Brand

Bloque’s open-source projects are one family. Every mark follows the same grammar: rounded square blocks in the product’s hue and one round stop, on a 5 × 5 grid from 32 px up and a 3 × 3 grid below. Each silhouette says what the product does, so the marks stay distinct without colour. The violet full stop closes every wordmark, with “by bloque” beneath or beside it.

The names are set in Familjen Grotesk 700, tracked at −0.045em. Bloque’s own wordmark is plain “bloque” in the same face; this site’s icon is a “b” drawn on the family’s grid, closed by the violet stop.

Orange and mint are light on white (2.61 and 2.14 : 1), so they work as block masses and never as text or thin details. On ink, aledgent’s violet becomes lilac #a78bfa and evmhot’s crimson is lifted to #e8475f; the stop turns white. Violet and sky, and orange or crimson and mint, merge for some colour-blind readers, which is why every silhouette differs: hue is only the second cue.

The neutral grounds are Bloque’s: ink #0d0c17, paper #fbfaff and white. The “by” of “by bloque” is #6d6982 on light grounds and #9a96ad on ink.

Clear space and minimum sizes

Symbol: one block (⅙ of its height) clear on every side

Lockup: one block of the symbol it carries, clear on every side

Clear space: one module is one block plus one gap of the grid (20 units of the 96-unit symbol, so 20 px around a 96 px symbol). Keep 1 module clear around the symbol and 2 modules around a lockup, on every side.
Symbol: the 5 × 5 symbol at 24 px or more. From 17 to 23 px, use the 32 px art (favicon-32.svg); at 16 px and below, the 3 × 3 version (favicon-16.svg), never the 5 × 5 one scaled down.
Lockup: the horizontal lockup at least 24 px tall, the stacked lockup at least 72 px. Smaller than that, use the symbol alone.

Do and don’t

Use the files below as they are, on the ground they are made for: lockup.svg and symbol.svg on light grounds, lockup-dark.svg on dark ones.
Use a one-colour version (ink or white) where the product’s hue cannot be printed or would clash.
Keep the clear space, and keep the marks above their minimum sizes.

Don’t

Recolour a mark, swap one product’s hue for another’s, or put a mark in a gradient.
Stretch, rotate, outline, shadow or re-draw a mark, or move, add or remove a block.
Set the wordmark in another typeface, or drop the stop or “by bloque” from a lockup.
Put a full-colour mark on a busy photo or a ground of a similar hue.
Use a mark for a fork or for a product that is not Bloque’s (see names and marks).
